New Year, new problems. This was about a fairly oldish computer which was running ME. Advice regarding connecting computer to Internet via Broadband connection was asked for.
Minimum recommended specification of a computer for Broadband is :
Windows 98 / ME / 2000 or Windows XP.
Pentium 133Mhz processor, 32Mb RAM, 50Mb free hard disk space & CD-ROM drive.
A spare USB port for a USB modem connection or Ethernet port with 10BaseT (UTP) connection if using an ADSL router.
This computer exceeds this minimum, so broadband should not be a problem.
Try http://www.getonlinebroadband.com/ or http://www.uswitch.com/Broadband/Index.aspx for information of broadband availability.
It was noted that this machine did not have an anti-virus program, so AVG 7.5 was installed and run. Three viruses were found and eliminated. Adobe reader was also installed.
